Santino’s Pizza

For years, my Aunt Paula and I would make a roughly 40-minute drive to Aynor, South Carolina, for one thing: an oven-baked sub from Santino's Pizza.

The sub was worth the drive. But that honey mustard made it unforgettable.

Santino's had the feeling I love about small-town restaurants. Nothing about it had to be fancy. It felt inviting. Comfortable. Like the kind of family-owned neighborhood restaurant where the food and the way you're treated matter more than trendy décor.

The customer service was always great when we visited, but it was the Ham and Turkey hot oven-baked subs—and the honey mustard sauce I remember as being made in-house—that kept us making that drive.

There are places you enjoy, and then there are places that become attached to a person, it becomes a memory in a period of your life.

For me, Santino's is one of those memories. I can’t wait until we return so I can share it with my family!
