The South Carolina Meet Up community may inspire members to connect with one another independently.

A gathering, activity, outing, or event is considered an official South Carolina Meet Up event only when it is expressly identified as such by South Carolina Meet Up through an official SCMU website, page, account, communication, or authorized representative.

Activities independently organized by community members or third parties are not automatically organized, sponsored, supervised, approved, or endorsed by South Carolina Meet Up merely because:

  • SCMU members attend;

  • the activity is discussed within an SCMU community;

  • information about the activity is shared by a community member; or

  • the South Carolina Meet Up name is referenced without authorization.

Individuals choosing to attend unofficial gatherings are responsible for evaluating the gathering and making their own decisions regarding participation.

No individual may represent an independently organized gathering as an official South Carolina Meet Up event without authorization from South Carolina Meet Up.

Additional terms, waivers, ticket policies, or participation requirements may apply to official South Carolina Meet Up events and will be provided when applicable.

5. Personal Safety and Interactions With Others

South Carolina Meet Up encourages meaningful community connection; however, interacting with people online or meeting individuals in person involves personal judgment and potential risk.

You are responsible for making your own decisions regarding whether, when, where, and how you interact with other individuals.

South Carolina Meet Up does not conduct comprehensive background checks on community members and does not guarantee the identity, conduct, intentions, statements, reliability, or safety of any individual you encounter through the community.

When meeting someone you do not know, consider appropriate personal safety precautions, including meeting in public locations, informing someone you trust of your plans, arranging your own transportation when appropriate, and using reasonable judgment regarding personal information.
